You live in a little box.
You get into a little box that drives you to another little box.
And you spend your day thinking little boxed thoughts in your little box.
Till it’s time to leave for the other little box.
Unbox yourself. Get a life. Get a cycle.
bravely navigating past Office Politics,
catching your breath at Cape Watercooler before
you venture to the unknown land they call the Pantry.
Step out. Get a life. Get a cycle.

Only a wall. And fake plastic flowers.
And a fake parquet floor.
A plastic coffee cup on a formica table.
Artificial lighting, on all day.

As part of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) an enormous outdoor installation of fish was constructed using discarded plastic bottles on Botafogo beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
This another cool project based in London.
The sculpture will be displayed on the canal in the spring/summer 2012. Having the sculpture located near the Olympic locations will help to bring more attention towards environmental issues since all eyes will be on that area before and during the Olympics.

Agbogbloshie is a suburb of Accra, Ghana known as a destination for legal and illegal exportation and environmental dumping of electronic waste (e-waste) from industrialized nations. Often referred to as a "digital dumping ground", millions of tons of e-waste are processed each year in Agbogbloshie
Processing electronic waste presents a serious health threat to workers at Agbogbloshie. The fumes released from the burning of the plastics and metals used in electronics are composed of highly toxic chemicals and carcinogens. Workers often inhale lead, cadmium, dioxins, furans, phthalates and brominated flame retardants.
Exposure to these fumes is especially hazardous to children, as these toxins are known to inhibit the development of the reproductive system, the nervous system and the brain.

A timelapse of Planet Earth from Electro-L, a geostationary satellite orbiting 40000km above the Earth. The satellite creates a 121 megapixel image every 30 minutes with four visible and infrared light wavelengths. The infrared light appears orange in these images, and shows vegetation. The images were obtained beginning on May 14th, 2011 and end on May 20th. The images are the largest whole disk images of our planet, the resolution is 1 kilometer per pixel. The images are "masked" by a circular barrier that blocks out the light of the Sun and other stars. This is to prevent damage to the camera by exposure to direct sunlight. The images have been interpolated (blended) to create a smooth animation.

During the summer of 2011, a group of multimedia artists spent 25 days hiking the 219 mile long John Muir Trail. The intent was to capture their experience on the trail and bring it back to the general public in the form of a gallery exhibit including photographs, video installations and hands-on displays that allow visitors to truly get a feeling for the beauty and majesty of the trail without the burning lungs and blisters. Alongside the exhibit will be a feature length documentary chronicling their adventures on the trail.
Leila Hurst born in 1993 on the island of Kauai was raised amongst the elite of the surfing world….Bruce and Andy Irons and Keala Kennelly to name a few and in the shores of some of the toughest surf breaks in the world. She started competing early and was sponsored by Billabong by the age of 9. Leila did very well and quickly became a part of the Hawaii World Junior team and in 2009 won the NSSA Nationals Explorer Womens. Around this time she signed with Vans and is currently their only female surfer, winning their Vans Triple Crown of surfing “Rookie of the Year” in 2010. In the midst of her successes, Leila felt a responsibility to her sister, born with a spinal defect. Of recently, Leila has been brainstorming ways to incorporate her sister and others alike, giving them the chance to experience surfing for the first time. Partnering with Life Rolls on, Leila and her sister were given that first chance.

Notankers is a non-profit organization dedicated to banning oil tankers from Canada's Pacific North Coast.
To raise awareness for the cause, we printed posters using an environmentally friendly, water-soluble ink and placed them around Vancouver, BC, Canada.
When it rained, the posters served as a reminder that oil spills affect everyone - driving people to notankers.ca to take action.

Black Diamond athlete Callum Pettit travels the world every year to ski amazing lines on stunning peaks. STAND, will take you into the heart of the largest temperate rainforest on the planet the Great Bear in British Columbia, Canada. Hung on the skeleton of a good ol' fashioned adventure undertaken by a group of surfers, the potential effects of introducing super tankers to these pristine waters will be articulated. As the crew moves through this remote region under their own power, the landscape will be unfurled one paddle stroke at a time and punctuated by the faces and fears of the First Nation people who call this garden of Eden their home. Not just an efficient mode of transport, a stand up paddleboard expedition will be symbolic of "standing up" to preserve this last bastion of rainforest.

In 1997, in San Andrés Itzapa in Guatemala, Maya Pedal Association began recycling scraps of bicycles into Bicimáquinas.
Bicimáquinas are pedal-powered blenders, washing machines and threshing machines, eliminating the need for fuel and electricity. Pumps are also possible, and are capable of extracting 30 liters of water per minute from 30-meter deep wells (electronic pumps reach just to 12 meters).
The idea of these ingenious contraptions emerged from the desire to help the farming families of the San Andrés community. The issue that gave rise to Maya Pedal was the expense and shortage of electricity and fuel in the village.

Sacred Economics traces the history of money from ancient gift economies to modern capitalism, revealing how the money system has contributed to alienation, competition, and scarcity, destroyed community, and necessitated endless growth.
Today, these trends have reached their extreme - but in the wake of their collapse, we may find great opportunity to transition to a more connected, ecological, and sustainable way of being.
A great insight holding true to my personal perspective on delivering a sustainable future in considering fundamental value change. While it might be futile as a collective norm as it overlooks self interest, it rightfully challenges mainstream solutions that build on the system that has caused global environmental degradation.

Having looked at some of the commentary around KONY 2012, it seems that this best sums up the dialogue going on. Yes, its important to be critical about campaigns such as this and how they are isolating a single issue amongst a complexity of perhaps bigger ones. However, it is an issue and cause worth attending to and we not all guilty of not fully understanding the bigger picture. It seems our hands are blood red to?!

A portion of nuts that squirrels bury for winter never get recovered. If they did, there would be no nuts to bring up the next generation trees and woods. Maybe this is where humans sometimes go wrong. Is it always about efficiency? Claims are made that we can be more sustainable if we are more efficient, maybe there is some truth in this but it might not be the only or the best game in town.
Back in 2004, a flip on skis gone tragically wrong broke Josh Dueck’s back and left him as a T11 – full paraplegic. For the past 8 years one of his dreams has been to do a flip on snow again. On February 3, 2012, Josh became the first person to perform a backflip on snow in a Sit Ski!
What an inspirational story.
